February Chapter Meeting

On Tuesday, February 6, please join us for a presentation Meet the Funders. Come meet local funders and learn what they’re looking for in a winning proposal. These funders will share the latest best practices, as well as concrete steps and suggestions to increase your organization’s competitiveness. To date, our diverse array of funders will include Centerville-Washington Foundation, Lions Club, and The Dayton Foundation – Social Innovation Awards.

December Chapter Meeting

On Tuesday, December 5, please join us for a presentation “Strategies to Beat Stress . . . Especially During the Holidays” by Dr. Laurie White, Ph.D., LISW-S, ACSW, Director of Behavioral Health, Family Health Services. Dr. White will discuss basic strategies to deal with stress, with a special component/twist pertinent to beating holiday stress.  We will take a look at relaxation, mindfulness, humor, self-care, and spirit strategies to combat the stress we all deal with.

November Chapter Meeting

On Tuesday, November 7, please join us for a presentation “Budgets and Fiscal Year Management for the Grant Writer” by Don Slobodien of Benbrook AssociatesLearn what your operating and program budgets and fiscal year numbers are telling funders about your organization and programs. You’ll be surprised what funders can find out about your organization through your numbers!

October Chapter Meeting

This October 3, 2017, please join us to hear Andrea Hoff, GPC give her presentation “Interacting with Program Officers:  A Win-Win Scenario.” Building relationships with program officers is paramount.  In fact, early contact with program officers may determine the success of your funding proposal.  You’ll explore the whats, whens, who, whys, and hows of establishing effective communications and building relationships with program officers. 

August Chapter Meeting

On Tuesday, August 1, please join us for a presentation “Demystifying the Form 990” by Ann E. Knerr-Smith, CPA and Anna Helfen, CPA, who will discuss the ins and outs of the IRS Form 990. This form provides the public with financial information about a nonprofit organization, and is often the only source of such information. It is a crucial tool in a grant professional’s tool kit. Learn how to exploit the information in these important documents when seeking funding for your organization.

June Chapter Meeting

On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, please join us to hear the “other side of the story” of philanthropy: the gatekeepers of institutional funders. What are their expectations and considerations? You can find out when Nina Diguardi Vasiliu, Senior Program Officer of Mathile Family Foundation; Soteria Brown, Liaison, The African American Community Fund; and Christine Mulvin, Program Officer, The HealthPath Foundation of Ohio, come together to share their point of view.

On Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 12:00pm, Tami Doling of Silver Lining Organizers presents “Supreme Organizing = Less Stress for the Busy Grant Professional.” Though rewarding and impactful, grantwriting and fundraising can be stressful! Tami discusses ways to reduce that stress by getting organized! The meeting is held at Montgomery County ADAMHS at 409 East Monument Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45402.
